ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Join Howard County’s Department of Community Resources and Services this Friday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pavilion at the North Laurel Community Center, for a “Summer Solstice Success Celebration” honoring community members who have overcome homelessness and persevered through adversity.

“During this celebration, we honor the stories of resilience in our community that prove we can, with the proper support and resources, give every person a safe home,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “I am proud to join the Howard County Office of Community Partnerships in celebrating these incredible success stories and pledging our continued support to end homelessness in Howard County.”

Held on the longest day of the year, a day filled with the most light, the Summer Solstice Success Celebration was created to recognize the strength of those who have journeyed through homelessness, as well as the life-changing benefits of housing. Since 2013, communities throughout the country have gathered to affirm that homelessness is not permanent.

In Howard County, we envision a community in which all members have the support they need to be safely and stably housed. Over the course of the past 12 months, 135 individuals and families have exited the County’s Coordinated System of Homeless Services into permanent housing. While each of these households has its own story to share, together they demonstrate that we can end homelessness for everyone.
