ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to replace the existing eight-inch water main along Old Columbia Pike from Toll House Road to Roussey Lane in Ellicott City, is expected to begin on or about Monday, February 27th. The project will include the installation of 5,400 linear feet of eight-inch PVC pipe and 1,200 linear feet of eight-inch ductile iron pipe and cross-connecting pipes and appurtenances. Additionally, water services within the project area will also be connected to the new water main as part of the project. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late August 2024.

Flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed and signs will be posted to alert residents and motorists of the construction, as a single lane closure will occur during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, a recorded message at 410-313-4400 will carry details and updates.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
