Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant
The Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant serves the central part of Howard County, which contains 56% of the County's population. This includes the towns of Columbia, Savage, and North Laurel. There are 820 miles of gravity and force main sewer pipe that carries wastewater to the plant.
Most of the western part of Howard County is rural. Waste from septic tanks in this area is transported to the plant by truck. The eastern portion of the County, including Ellicott City, Elkridge, and Jessup is served by the Patapsco Wastewater Treatment Plant in Baltimore City.

Directions to the Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant
From I-95 take Rt 32 East to the first exit which is US1. As you come down the ramp stay in the left lane and when the light changes cross over all lanes into the left hand turn lane to Corridor Road. When the light changes you will cross north bound US1 on to Corridor Road you will see the fire house construction on the left. The next right will be Larkin Road, take a right and take the next right on to Greenwood Place. Take Greenwood Place to the end, through the gate and stay to the left as you enter the plant. The Administration Building is on the right near the parking at the end of the plant road.

Field Trips
The Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant offers Field Trips to classrooms interested in the protection of the Environment through the Treatment of Wastewater before discharging to receiving streams. Please contact the Plant office at 410-313-1200 to schedule a Field trip.

UPDATE July 12, 2021:
The project experienced delays associate with COVID-19 pandemic. The project was substantial complete December 26, 2021. The Plant has been producing dried solids since January 2021 and acquired Class A, Exceptional Quality approval from Maryland Department of the Environment on February 12, 2021. A dedication ceremony was held in April 2021. The video can be viewed at LINK.
The dried solids are being land applied to bulk agriculture by a County contractor. The County is currently undergoing an evaluation of various alternate markets including soil blending operations as potential new users of the dried solids. We have developed a draft user information pamphlet (LINK).
