Dementia Care

The Office on Aging and Independence (OAI) is dedicated to supporting individuals living with dementia and their caregivers through education, resources, and community connections. Our programs aim to enhance quality of life, promote independence, and provide meaningful support for families navigating the challenges of dementia care in Howard County.

OAI offers a variety of dementia-friendly initiatives, including support groups, memory cafés, and educational workshops to help individuals and caregivers better understand and manage dementia.

  • Support for caregivers – Access to training, respite options, and local support networks.
  • Dementia-friendly programs – Activities designed to engage individuals living with dementia in a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Education and awareness – Workshops and resources to help the community recognize and respond to dementia-related needs.

By fostering an inclusive, dementia-friendly community, OAI empowers individuals and families to navigate dementia with confidence and support.
