Options Counseling assist individuals and their caregivers in the planning and decision-making regarding their long-term care needs. It is a service tool to help you be prepared for the unexpected.
Your own plan is critical to:
- Understand your options so that you can prepare financially for the costs of services.
- Make sure your loved ones understand your preferences and goals.
- Get organized and make decision before a crisis.
- Find services in the location where you need them.

- Contact the MAP on 410-313-1234 and ask to schedule a planning session with a Maryland Access Point Options Counselor.
- Your planning session will help you develop your long-term service goals based on your preferences and values.
- You and the Options Counselor will discuss potential options that may help meet your goals. Services may be a mix of informal, public, and private pay options.
- The Options Counselor will work with you to create your action plan.
