About Us
The Advisory Board on Consumer Protection works with the Howard County Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) to educate and protect Howard County consumers.
Board members provide feedback and recommendations on OCP's programs, alert the OCP Administrator to problems and concerns they witness in their communities and assist OCP staff to educate county residents about the services that the office provides.
The Board submits an annual report to the County Executive and County Council. The Advisory Board on Consumer Protection is governed by Section 17.402 of the Howard County Code.

“Navigating the Landlord-Tenant Relationship” was presented in October 2021 to educate and inform residents who own or rent properties throughout Howard County. The virtual forum featured a panel of experts from Howard County Government and community partners to address issues which affect both landlords and tenants, including landlord/tenant laws, eviction prevention, discriminatory practices, housing voucher programs, and the responsibilities of tenants and landlords. A recording of the public forum, as well as a list of presenters with contact information, can be found below.
