ELLICOTT CITY, MD - Howard County Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Transportation and Special Projects Division will hold a public meeting on Thursday, March 7th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hammond High School in Columbia, to present plans for an intersection improvement project at Snowden River Parkway and Broken Land Parkway. Note, in the event of inclement weather, this meeting will be rescheduled to Thursday, March 14th, at the same time and location.

This project will facilitate the safe and efficient flow of local commuter, bicycle and pedestrian traffic movements from the westbound MD 32 off-ramp onto Broken Land Parkway and at the intersection of Snowden River Parkway and Broken Land Parkway. Design Improvements include:

  1. Widening of the MD 32 westbound off-ramp to Broken Land Parkway;
  2. Widening along northbound Broken Land Parkway from MD 32 through the Snowden River Parkway intersection to the existing Park and Ride lot;
  3. The installation of a shared use pathway along northbound Broken Land Parkway for enhanced pedestrian and bicycle mobility; and
  4. Widening along eastbound Snowden River Parkway to provide three lanes of travel from Broken Land Parkway to Minstrel Way.

While there will be no formal presentation, DPW staff will be on hand to explain the proposed work, answer any questions and gather public comment.

Those unable to attend the open house who would like to view the exhibits and/or have questions, should contact Kareem Abdelazim, P.E. with DPW’s Transportation & Special Projects Division at 410-313-6143 or email kabdelazim@howardcountymd.gov.
