ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to improve stormwater drainage along Gross Avenue, just north of the roadway’s intersection with Lyon Avenue in Laurel, is expected to begin on or about Thursday, March 28th. The project will include relocation of an underground water line, followed by installation of curb and gutter along with storm drainpipe and storm drain inlets. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late June.

The project is not expected to impact the flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic; however, signs will be posted in the area to alert motorists of the work and flagging operations will be in place, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to direct traffic through the project site. Notification letters have also been sent to property owners in the project area alerting them of the work.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
