ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to install sidewalk along Mission Road from Guilford Road to Dorsey Cove in Jessup, is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday, May 28th. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to be completed by late July 2024.

Expanding neighborhood connections makes our community a happier, healthier, and more vibrant place for all. Over the last five years, we have grown our county investment in multimodal transportation to more than $50 million, supporting essential projects like this one. This critical project will fill in a missing sidewalk link along Mission Road, better connecting nearby residents and students to Guilford Park High School.

Flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic, as temporary lane closures will be in place throughout the project during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Signs will also be posted in the area to alert residents and motorists of the work and corresponding lane closures.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
