ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County announced The Mall in Columbia mass vaccination site has administered 73.7% of its allocated first doses, leading among the six state-supported mass vaccination sites. The site has administered 21,819 doses since opening last month and has seen an uptick in first doses administered since last week, due to the authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for children 12-15. An additional 7,020 doses were allocated this morning by the Maryland Department of Health for the coming week.

The Mall in Columbia mass vaccination site is working seamlessly to get more and more of our residents and surrounding neighbors vaccinated. We know how practical and convenient this site is for our community and our region, especially for our young adults between the ages of 12 and 18. This site has been vital to the region, with many of our neighbors traveling to Columbia for its central location to get their vaccine. We continue to work with the State and our community partners to communicate to our residents and businesses how easy and important it is to get vaccinated.

Additionally, residents from surrounding counties, including Montgomery (17.2%), Baltimore (12.1%), Anne Arundel (9.6%), and Prince George’s (5.3%), have received their vaccines at the Mall in Columbia site. While some state mass vaccination sites have seen decreasing volume over the past two weeks, the Mall in Columbia has seen increasing demand for vaccines. With approximately 1,000 daily doses administered the second week of May, to more than 2,500 daily doses administered this past weekend.

The Mass Vaccination site at the Mall in Columbia gives our residents one more convenient place to go to get fully vaccinated. Even if you received your first dose elsewhere, you can easily go to this site to get your second dose of Pfizer to ensure you are completely immunized.
