ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A developer project to replace the culvert of a Little Patuxent River tributary running under Marriottsville Road, just south of the Resort Road/Albeth Road intersection in Marriottsville, is expected to begin on or about Monday, June 17th. The work will include replacing the existing box culvert with a larger structure to increase capacity and restoration of the roadway. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by late August 2024.
While the work is being done, Marriottsville Road from Resort Road to US 40 will be closed to all traffic. During this time, traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using I-70, MD 32 and MD 99. Marriottsville Road north of US 40 will not be accessible at the US 40 intersection and Resort Road may be accessed from southbound Marriottsville Road just north of Resort Road.
Variable message boards and signs will be posted to alert the public of the project and corresponding road closure. Additionally, a recorded message at 410-313-4400 will carry details and updates.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
