ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County capital project to replace the existing Pressure Reduction Valve (PRV) near the intersection of Savage Guilford Road and Vollmerhausen Road in Savage, is expected to begin on or about Monday, July 15th. Distributed throughout the County’s water system, PRV’s assist in the transfer of water from high pressure zones to lower pressure zones. This project will also include replacing the PRV’s associated piping and electrical/instrumentation components to improve its operation and reliability. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September 2024.

While construction is underway, the northbound lane on Savage Guilford Road and westbound lane on Vollmerhausen Road in the vicinity of the project area will be closed during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Signs will be posted and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic during this time.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
