ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to repair and improve a stormwater management pond south of 8360 Montgomery Run Road in Ellicott City, has begun. The project includes replacing the existing metal spillway pipe and riser with a reinforced concrete principal spillway pipe and riser structure, as well as grading and stabilization work. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late August 2025.

Beginning August 1st and lasting for approximately four months, the portion of Montgomery Run Road located next to the pond will be closed to all traffic. During this time, traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using Montgomery Run Road to Falls Run Road.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes, and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when travelling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.

The project is funded through the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
