ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to install a retaining wall along Woodbine Morgan Road next to South Branch Patapsco River in Woodbine, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 23rd. The project will include work to stabilize roadway embankment, repair the shoulder and improve the traffic barrier. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late December 2024.

While the work is being done, Woodbine Morgan Road in both directions will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using Woodbine Road, Old Frederick Road and Woodbine Station Road. Signs will be posted to alert the public of the project and corresponding road closure. Construction will take place Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
