ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to improve stormwater drainage along a portion of Michaels Way in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, October 3rd. Additional pipes and inlets will be installed along the storm drain system between 9778 and 9572 Michaels Way to upgrade the system and improve the efficiency of the drainage network. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late February 2023.
Signs will be posted as Michaels Way between Hearthstone Road and Longview Drive will be closed to thru traffic during the project. Motorists will follow a clearly marked detour using Hearthstone Road and Longview Drive to get around the work zone. A recorded message at 410-313-3638 will carry project updates.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
This project is partially funded by the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
