ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The second phase of a two-phase Howard County construction project to improve stormwater drainage between Lincoln Drive and Wye Avenue in Jessup, is scheduled to begin on or about Wednesday, September 29th. The project was originally expected to begin in June; however, it was delayed. Phase 2 of the project will include the installation of new curb and storm drain piping and inlets from 7307 Wye Avenue to Georgia Avenue, to north along Cedar Avenue and ending just prior to 8331 Lincoln Drive. The sidewalk along the west side of Cedar Avenue will also be extended from its end point near 7280 Cedar Avenue to Cedar Villa Heights Park. Weather permitting, this phase of the project is expected to be completed by late January 2022.

Signs will be posted in the project area to alert motorists of the construction and flagging operations will be in place, as temporary lane shifts can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., particularly during the install of the underground pipes. Once the pipes have been installed, the affected roadway will be repaved; however, temporary paving will be utilized as the work progresses in the meantime. Finally, the north end of the existing Cedar Avenue sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians during the extension of the sidewalk.
