ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County’s Department of Public Works will begin emergency repair work to the Frederick Road bridge over the Hudson Branch, located between 8905 to 8899 Frederick Road in Ellicott City, starting around 7:00 a.m., Monday, October 23rd. The work will include bridge deck repairs, replacement of bridge barriers and approach roadway traffic barriers, and resurfacing of the roadway approaches to the bridge. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by late December 2023.
While the work is being done, this section of Frederick Road will be closed to all traffic. For approximately eight weeks, traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using Frederick Road to St. Johns Lane, US 40 and Rogers Avenue.
Variable message boards and signs will be posted to alert the public of the project and corresponding road closure. Additionally, a recorded message at 410-313-4400 will carry details and updates.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
