ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Stormwater Management Division construction project to repair a storm water management pond located on Columbia Association property behind 9566 Many Mile Mews in Columbia, is expected to begin on or about Monday, January 15, 2024. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September 2024.
The deteriorating existing infrastructure will be replaced. Additionally, the pond will be regraded to create several small pools to provide water quality treatment and rock will be placed to stabilize the channels flowing into the pond. Rock will also be placed at the outfall to reduce erosion and a section of the existing sanitary sewer line located within the dam will be lined to protect the structural integrity of the pipe.
While the work is being done, the sidewalk along the south side of White Spring Way between 9475 and 9485 White Spring Way will be temporarily closed to allow for construction access. Signs will be posted in the project area to alert the public of the project and corresponding sidewalk closure.
