Howard County Executive Calvin Ball wants to hear from you about your experiences, hopes and dreams for Howard County. Attend one of Executive Ball’s listening sessions scheduled throughout the month of January, including a Live Twitter Chat. Holiday Model Train Garden at Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum

This holiday season, the model trains are returning to the Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum. Free for all ages, LEGO® trains plus N gauge and O gauge models will be on display. Holiday Train Garden at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center

Visitors of all ages are invited to come and delight in this year’s train garden layout, which features four continuously operating trains and buttons that activate various accessories and sounds.

2019 Snowflake Ball for Dads and Daughters
Saturday, January 5, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Gary J. Arthur Community Center, 2400 MD 97, Cooksville
Dads (or special adults) and daughters (ages 4-12) come shake, rock and roll those winter blues away with refreshments, live DJ, dancing, games, crafts and an ice cream sundae bar. Admission includes a professional photo of each couple to take home. Pre-registration is required; cost is $40 for one child/one adult for center members and $50 for one child/one adult for non-center members). Each additional daughter is $20. The inclement weather date is Saturday, January 12.

Join Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and the Howard County Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission for its annual celebration of the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. King, Jr. There will be a student ‘essay contest’ and ‘Living the Dream’ award presentations. Admission is free; however, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Howard County Food Bank.

Annual Child Care and Preschool Information Fair

Howard County’s “Children on Board” Child Care and Preschool Information Fair features information for parents, guardians, grandparents and child care personnel on pre-school and child care programs and services available in the county for young children. Admission is free; however, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or unopened pack of diapers to donate to the Howard County Food Bank. The 2019 Parent’s Guide to Howard County will also be distributed at the event free of charge. The guide will be available online in mid-January at www.howardcountymd.gov/parentsguide.
