ELLICOTT CITY, MD – County Executive Calvin Ball will join the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA) on Wednesday, September 16 at 10:15 a.m. to celebrate Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
“Truck drivers deserve our appreciation every day of the year, but especially this week, we’re incredibly grateful to those who ensure our goods are delivered safely, securely, and on time,” said Ball. “Over the past six months, we had concerns about our grocery store shelves being empty, and it is the essential workers in our truck driving industry who have helped us ensure goods are safely delivered and in the hands of residents. Please join us this week in thanking these COVID-19 heroes who have been critical to getting us through this pandemic.”
Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a part of the national truck driver appreciation celebration that recognizes the truck drivers who deliver virtually every product that Marylanders and Americans need. From food, fuel, medical supplies, and clothing- every product you own was delivered by a truck. This year is special considering the crucial role truck drivers have played during the COVID-19 pandemic. The week is a time to honor the 3.5 million professional men and women who not only deliver our goods safely, securely, and on time, but also keep our highways safe.
