ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is joining regional leaders, Mayor Jack Young, County Executive Steuart Pittman, and County Executive Johnny Olszewski to discuss opportunities for regional collaboration on interconnected transportation needs and to call on the State of Maryland to invest in critical transportation infrastructure and projects.
“Traffic and transportation are top concerns for our residents, especially with nearly 60 percent commuting across county borders daily,” said Ball. “We've made progress by increasing RTA service and hours by 5 percent and adjusting routes based on rider feedback; and we've adopted the Complete Streets resolution including record funding of $2.2 million towards bicycle infrastructure. With that said, there is still a great need for state investment in creating more reliable and multi-modal transit options for our region, which will improve the overall quality of life of our residents.”
