County offices closed on Friday, July 3rd
Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter and 50+ centers will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday on Friday, July 3rd. While the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open on July 3, the Landfill will be closed on Saturday, July 4th. While County Government offices will be closed on the 3rd, there will be regular Friday trash, recycling, yard trim and food scrap collection that day. The County’s holiday slide schedule will not be in affect the week of Independence Day; there is no change to the County’s curbside collection schedule the week of June 29th to July 4th.
With the exception of county parks, playgrounds and outdoor amenities (click HERE for current list), all County Department of Recreation & Parks’ centers and facilities are currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Recreation & Parks’ three community centers, Meadowbrook Athletic Complex, Robinson Nature Center, Patapsco Female Institute, Firehouse Museum and Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum are set to open in early July after the 4th (click HERE for more information). Additionally, as previously announced, the County’s July 4th fireworks celebration is cancelled for 2020.
On July 3rd, the Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) will operate its regular weekday schedule; however, on July 4th, RTA will run a “Sunday” schedule. Normal service resumes Monday, July 6th. For more information on RTA, call 1-800-270-9553 or visit www.transitrta.com. Howard County parking fees will not be enforced on July 3rd and July 4th.
The 9-1-1 Center, Police and Fire departments remain staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1; for non-emergencies, please call 410-313-2200.
