Spring Fishing Tournament

Howard County Police Department Memorial Ride and Fallen Heroes Memorial Service

In recognition of National Police Week, Howard County Police Department (HCPD) will hold a memorial ride and service honoring the seven law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty in Howard County. The memorial ride will start at 10:00 a.m. and will consist of a caravan of vehicles passing the sites where each of the county’s seven fallen officers died. The memorial service will follow afterwards at 11:30 a.m. at HCPD’s Memorial Courtyard and Garden.

Using Medicare’s Plan Finder

Hosted by Howard County’s Department of Community Resources and Services, participants will learn how to use the ‘Plan Finder’ tool on the www.medicare.gov website. The ‘Plan Finder’ tool is a powerful aid that helps users compare and review Medicare Prescription Drug Plans available to them. The ‘Plan Finder’ can also be used to compare Medicare health plans, such as HMOs, PPOs and Cost Plans. Interested individuals who are not familiar with the structure of Part D plans, however, are encouraged to first attend the department’s “Understanding Medicare’s Drug Coverage” presentation before participating in this workshop. In honor of National Police Week, a team of cyclists from Howard County Police Department (HCPD) will join fellow cyclists from Police Unity Tour Chapter 9 to ride the more than 300 miles from Philadelphia to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. As part of their ride, the team will make a stop at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott City. To date, HCPD members have raised more than $400,000.

31st Annual National Law Enforcement Officers Candlelight Vigil

In honor of National Police Week, members of Howard County Police Department will attend a candlelight vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service. The vigil will include the reading of the names of 371 U.S. law enforcement officers recently and previously killed in the line of duty and/or from illness related to 9/11. The Memorial bears the names of 21,910 officers nationwide who have sacrificed their lives throughout history.
