A man has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing a resident in the garage of his Marriottsville home in what police believe was a random attack on Wednesday night.
Jonathan Logan, 28, of Round Road in Baltimore, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault, and burglary. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
At approximately 9:37 p.m., police responded to the 11100 block of Willow Green Way for a report of a man stabbed. Upon arrival, they located 57-year-old Gary Polinsky in his residence suffering from stab wounds to the abdomen. He reported that he was in his attached garage taking out the trash when he was approached by an unknown male suspect wearing a ski mask who began stabbing him. The suspect then fled on foot.
Polinsky was transported by helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he is listed in critical condition.
Police located Logan walking in the area and recovered a bloody folding knife and ski mask in his pocket. Preliminarily, police believe there is no connection between the suspect and the victim and they are continuing to investigate a motive.
