UPDATE: Deal was located safe and unharmed in North Carolina
Howard County police are asking for the public's help to locate a critical missing person that has ties to the area.
James William Deal, 88, of Bowie, was last seen at a family member’s residence on Ten Oaks Road several days ago. Police believe he likely returned home to Bowie before leaving to visit another family member in Virginia. Family contacted police when he did not arrive as expected.
Police and Deal’s family are concerned for his wellbeing due to age-related health concerns. Preliminary investigation revealed Deal had contact with police in Ashville, NC around 7 p.m. today asking for directions.
Deal is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, and 170 pounds, with white hair. A clothing description is not available. He is operating a 1993 black Mercedes 190SE with Maryland tag 7Z1-204.
Anyone who sees Deal or his vehicle should call 911.
