UPDATE: Police identify the operator as Tyler McConnell, 29, of Sykesville. He was pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital.
Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle in Ellicott City.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. a 2023 Kawasaki EX650 was traveling southbound on Pine Orchard Lane through the Route 40 intersection at a high rate of speed when it lost control and left the road, striking a light pole.
The operator, a 29-year-old male from Sykesville, was transported to Howard County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 10100 block of Frederick Road was closed for approximately two hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
