Howard County police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision in Laurel on June 5 in which one person was killed.
At approximately 12:55 a.m., a 2017 Honda Accord was traveling east on Johns Hopkins Road near Route 29 when it failed to negotiate a traffic circle and struck a tree. The front passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Elisa Lopez Calix of Sliver Spring, was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead on the evening of June 5. The driver, an adult male, also was transported to Shock Trauma with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
