Howard County police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle motorcycle collision in Columbia on Sept. 4 in which one person was killed.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., a 2006 Yamaha R6 was traveling north on Route 29 at Rivers Edge Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. The operator and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle and both were transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The operator, an adult male, died from his injuries. The passenger, an adult female, is in critical condition.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. The name of the deceased will be released when next of kin has been notified.
