Howard County police are continuing to investigate three shootings in Columbia over the weekend, and are working to determine if there are any possible links among them.

The victims in Saturday’s nonfatal double shooting have been identified as Sherod Madison Hogue, 26, of Columbia, who is currently listed in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and Gregory Peck McGraw, 31, of Baltimore, who was also treated at Shock Trauma and has since been released. Officers were called to the 5600 block of Cedar Lane at approximately 8:29 p.m. Oct. 3 for a report that two people had been shot outside and located Hogue and McGraw. Detectives are looking into whether the involved parties were known to one another. The investigation is ongoing.

The victim in Sunday afternoon’s fatal shooting has been identified as Juan Michael Ross, 23, of Jessup. Officers were called to the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road at approximately 2:37 p.m. Oct. 4 for a report that a subject had been shot outside a residence. Ross was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are looking into the possibility this shooting may have been drug-related, and whether the involved parties were known to one another. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating a third shooting that occurred overnight. Officers were called to the 7500 block of Monarch Mills at 1:35 a.m. Oct. 5 for several reports of gunshots. As they were searching the area, police learned a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg had been driven to Howard County General Hospital by a friend. Deandre Cummings, 24, of Columbia, has since been treated and released from the hospital. Detectives are looking into the possibility this shooting may have been drug-related, and whether the involved parties were known to one another. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information in any of the three incidents should contact police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov. Those who call or email may remain anonymous.
