ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to restore and stabilize approximately 1,200 linear feet of stream channel adjacent to 8409 Sweet Cherry Lane in Laurel is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday, January 21. The unnamed tributary to the Rocky Gorge reservoir has been heavily impacted by stormwater and has eroded significantly.
The project will include grading of the streambanks and placement of riffle grade control structures and woody material along the stream banks for erosion protection. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late October.
The project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic.
This project is partially funded through a Chesapeake Bay Trust Fund grant.
