ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to improve pedestrian access and safety, while providing vehicular traffic calming at the intersection of Foundry Street and Washington Street in Savage, is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday, October 1. At the intersection, a mini-roundabout will be installed and approximately 500 feet of pathway will be laid along southbound Foundry Street. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-November.

As lane shifts and temporary lane closures are expected, signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additionally, a recorded message at 410-313-3638 will carry details and updates regarding the project.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
