ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a public meeting on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Belmont Meeting Room of the Elkridge Branch Library located at 6540 Washington Boulevard, to present plans for a nearby stream restoration project.
DPW’s Bureau of Environmental Services plans to complete stream restorations on three portions of Rockburn Branch, a tributary to the Patapsco River. The sites’ construction access points will be located between 5347 and 5351 Sunny Field Court, between 7854 and 7846 Rockburn Drive, and between 7718 and 7719 Graystone Court in Ellicott City. Like many steams in the area, these portions have been heavily impacted by stormwater and have eroded significantly. The proposed stream restoration project will utilize a variety of wood and rock structures to reestablish natural and stable stream and floodplain conditions. In addition, the project is expected to create a more functional environmental system. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2019.
The informal meeting will include a brief overview of the project and draft construction drawings will be available for viewing. County staff and the project’s design consultant team, KCI Technologies, Inc., will be on hand to answer any questions
Those unable to attend the meeting who would like to view the plans and/or have questions should contact Mr. Avinash Dewani with the DPW’s Stormwater Management Division at 410-313-6417 or email adewani@howardcountymd.gov.
An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available if requested seven working days prior to the meeting. Please call DPW at 410-313-3440 (voice) or use Relay at 7-1-1, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
