Nomination forms available online – deadline is Friday, February 14

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Environmental Services has announced that nomination forms are now available for its third annual “Business Recycling and Waste Reduction” and “Green Community Leadership” awards. Deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 14

"Many of Howard County's businesses and organizations are creating recycling programs and green initiatives to reduce waste and support our local environment," said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. "We're excited to recognize leaders in this space who are supporting our goal to create a clean and sustainable environment and demonstrating that purposeful actions can result in creating a better community for all."

The Business Recycling and Waste Reduction Award recognizes Howard County businesses for their efforts during calendar year 2019. The Green Community Leadership Award recognizes a Howard County-based community group or organization that demonstrates efforts, projects or programs that help protect Howard County’s natural environment and preserve its resources. This award is open to community groups and organizations that are based in Howard County. 

Nomination forms are available online at HowardCountyRecycles.org. All nominations must be delivered or postmarked by 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, to: Gemma Evans, Recycling Coordinator, 9801 Broken Land Parkway, Columbia, MD 21046, or email gevans@howardcountymd.gov (email preferred). 

Awards will be presented at the 13th annual Howard County GreenFest on Saturday, April 4th at Howard Community College.
