ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County project to replace a water main along Old Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge is scheduled to begin on or about Wednesday, September 11. The project will include the replacement of 1,610 linear feet of antiquated cast iron water main with fusible PVC water main along the entire length of westbound Old Lawyers Hill Road. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November.
Temporary lane shifts and minor interruptions to the flow of traffic can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed, and signs will be posted to advise motorists of the construction. Interruptions to public water service in the area is not expected as a temporary water main will be installed to maintain service.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
