ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to rehabilitate a portion of the public sewers in the Sewells Orchard neighborhood of Columbia is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, July 22. The project will renew approximately 6,000 linear feet of eight-inch diameter sewer mains by using cured-in-place pipe lining. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
Disruptions to nearby residential water service are expected during installation. Residents will be notified by the contractor with door hangers at least 48 hours prior to any disruption.
Additionally, the project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic; however, residents can expect to see foot traffic and small equipment on properties where manholes are located as the contractor will install the liner through existing manholes. Signs will be posted to advise the public of the construction.
