ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to improve a storm drain system near 3605-3621 Valley Road in Ellicott City, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, July 27. The project will involve the addition of new storm drain inlets, as well as the replacement of several smaller inlets with larger ones. In addition, the existing storm drainpipe will be replaced with a larger drainpipe to help improve the efficiency of the storm drain system. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November.

For approximately six weeks during the project, the northbound lane of Valley Road at the project site will be closed during work hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., to allow for the construction of the storm drain. Signs will be posted near the project site to advise motorists and pedestrians of the lane closure and construction.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes, and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
