ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball directed the Department of Public Works to illuminate the George Howard Building in Ellicott City with burgundy lighting in support of the Washington Commanders, as the team heads to the “City of Brotherly Love” this Sunday, January 26th to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game. It’s the first time since its 1991 season that a Washington football team has played in the championship game.

This football season has been incredibly exciting in the DMV, with Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels breaking the NFL rookie quarterback single season rushing record and being named ‘2024 Rookie of the Year’ and the ‘Offensive Rookie of the Year.' While I may be a Baltimore Ravens fan at heart, I am definitely excited to see what the future holds for the burgundy and gold as a new generation of Washington football has certainly arrived with this Commanders team. With the team being just a game away from Super Bowl LIX, let's all join together to ‘Hail to the Commanders’ as they ‘Raise Hail!’
