ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to stabilize an exposed public sewer at a stream crossing located in a wooded area off Broken Land Parkway in Columbia, is underway. The existing sewer pipe will be replaced with ductile iron pipe and the river will be restored to its natural channel to protect the pipe. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late April.
During construction hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., southbound Broken Land Parkway will be temporarily reduced to two lanes just south of Cradlerock Way to allow construction vehicles access to the job site. Arrow boards and signs will be posted near the project area to advise motorists and pedestrians of the project and corresponding lane closure and shift.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
