ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is seeking applicants knowledgeable about pension administration and funding, who are interested in serving on the County’s Pension Oversight Commission. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 14th.

Comprised of five members, Commission members submit an annual report to the County Executive and the County Council regarding the status of the County’s Retirement Plan and the Police and Fire Employees’ Retirement Plan. Members also review and make recommendations to the County Executive and the County Council on any proposed amendments to the County Code Section 1.482 governing the commission. Commission members serve five-year terms. 

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident, 18 years of age or older and cannot hold an elective or appointed office with the County or the State of Maryland, be participants in any retirement plan offered by the County and/or have any involvement with any company who does business with a retirement plan offered by the County. Candidates must also be able to attend the Commission’s meetings, which are held quarterly and as needed.

The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for consideration. If approved, the appointment will be forwarded to the County Council for confirmation.
