Comprised of eight members, including one student, the Board provides recommendations relating to plans, policies and programs for public recreation, and reviews plans for and holds hearings on the acquisition and development of land for public recreation and open space. The board members will serve a three-year term.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident, be 18 years of age or older and be able to attend the Board’s meetings, the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Conference Room #1 at the Department of Recreation and Parks Headquarters, 7120 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia.

The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for consideration. If approved, the appointment will be forwarded to the County Council for confirmation.
