ELLICOTT CITYM MD - Howard County Office of Transportation (OoT) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, May 1st, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at County offices at 7125 Riverwood Drive in Columbia, to discuss proposed Complete Streets bicycle improvement plans for Guilford Road, Eden Brook Drive, and Old Columbia Road. Proposed improvements include asphalt resurfacing and new road markings, including establishing designated bike lanes or partial bike lanes. The addition of bike lanes to roadway shoulder will impact on-street parking in the area.
Complete Streets infrastructure creates neighborhood connections and provides our residents safe and healthy transportation options, To help us expand multimodal transportation for people of all ages and abilities in Howard County, including in our Kings Contrivance neighborhood, my Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Budget included $14.7 million in County funding for sidewalks, bike lanes, pathways and other Complete Streets infrastructure that makes projects like this possible.
While there will be no formal presentation, the concept plans will be available for public viewing and OoT staff members and project consultants will be on hand to explain the proposed work, answer any questions, and gather public comments.
Those unable to attend the meeting who would like to view the plans and/or have questions, should contact Mr. Chris Eatough with Transportation at 410-313-0567 or email ceatough@howardcountymd.gov. Immediately following the public meeting, the meeting materials will be available on the project website. From this same link, residents will also be able to complete a survey to share their feedback about the projects with OoT. The survey link will be available through Friday, May 16th.
An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available if requested seven working days prior to the meeting. Please call Transportation at 410-313-4312 (voice) or use Relay at 7-1-1, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
