ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Beginning on or about Monday, July 10th at 9:00 a.m., Old Columbia Pike from Tollhouse Road to Main Street in Ellicott City, will be closed to all-thru traffic as part of an ongoing water main placement project along Old Columbia Pike. Weather permitting, this section of Old Columbia Pike is expected to reopen on or about Monday, August 7th. Only local traffic and emergency vehicles will be permitted to access the area during this time.
Variable message boards and signs will be posted to alert residents and motorists of the construction and corresponding road closure and detour. Motorists will follow a clearly marked detour using Old Columbia Pike, Main Street, Frederick Road and Tollhouse Road. A recorded message at 410-313-4400 will carry details and updates.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
Weather permitting, the water main replacement project is expected to be completed by late August 2024.
