ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is currently seeking applicants to serve on the Cemetery Preservation Advisory Board, specifically individuals who represent or work in the funeral industry or the development industry. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 25th.
 

The Cemetery Preservation Advisory Board serves an important role in ensuring that as our world continues to change, we are honoring and preserving our historic cemeteries. We are incredibly thankful to individuals who share their time and expertise by serving on the Board, and we encourage interested residents to apply.

Comprised of seven members, the Board’s responsibilities include reviewing newly discovered cemeteries for County adoption, providing advisory comments on subdivision and site development plans that are on or adjacent to a cemetery on the County’s Cemetery Inventory, advising on historical cemetery resources, and other duties outlined by the Howard County Code.

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident, represent or work in the funeral industry or the development industry, meet the professional qualifications of the Board, and be able to attend the Board’s meetings held the second Tuesday of every other month at 10:00 a.m. at the George Howard Building in Ellicott City.

Interested applicants should complete an application online by visiting www.howardcountymd.gov/applybc and selecting “Cemetery Preservation Advisory Board” in the form. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for consideration. If approved, the appointment will be forwarded to the County Council for confirmation.
