ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on the Adult Public Guardianship Review Board. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 26th, 2022.
Our Adult Public Guardianship Review Board advocates to ensure vulnerable adults have a voice concerning their day-to-day affairs as guardianship is determined. To maximize their quality of life, Board members play a pivotal role in maximizing an individual’s strengths and advancing their quality of life.
Comprised of 11 members appointed to three-year terms, the Board consists of two lay members, a psychiatrist, a representative from the County’s Commission on Aging, a professional worker in the disability field, a lawyer, a registered nurse, a person with a physical disability, a representative of a local nonprofit service organization and representative of the local department. Board members provide impartial oversight of the care and services provided for individuals awarded under public guardianship and are responsible for making recommendations to the court as to whether the public guardianship should be continued, modified or terminated.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident and serve one of the mentioned categories above or serve in the Howard County community in one of these roles, and be able to attend the Board’s meetings, which are held quarterly the first Thursday of February, May, August and November.
Applicants should send a resume and brief letter explaining why they want to serve on the Commission to Kimberly Pruim, either by email to kpruim@howardcountymd.gov or by mail to: Howard County Government, Office of the County Executive, Attn: Kimberly Pruim, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
