ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will host its next Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) public meeting in-person on Thursday, October 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center in Cooksville. For it’s October quarterly meeting, OEM will be joined by representatives from the Howard County Police Department to discuss how to prepare and respond in an active assailant situation.

Held quarterly, the goal of LEPC meetings is to enhance Howard County’s preparedness and response to emergencies by involving the government, private businesses, non-profit organizations and residents in planning and preparing for natural and human-caused disasters and other incidents.

An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available if requested seven working days prior to the meeting. Please call DPW at 410-313-3440 (voice) or use Relay at 7-1-1, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
