ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball invites the public to join the County’s Department of Recreation & Parks, Bureau of Facilities and Department of Community Resources and Services on Thursday, November 21st from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department for a public meeting to gather community input on the design of a new Elkridge Community Center that will include a 50+ Center.
As I recently outlined in my State of the County address, our Elkridge community has long advocated for a community center, a high school, indoor track and other amenities to help its members of all ages, grow and thrive. Part of our vision for an Elkridge Civic District in fact includes a new Elkridge Community Center, which will also house our new Elkridge 50+ Center. With the purchase of more than 25 acres of land, we envision our new, approximately 65,000 square feet Elkridge Community Center to feature an athletic center, meeting space, gymnasium, early childcare learning rooms, activity rooms, and space for a future pool addition.
Following a short presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate break-out sessions to discuss their ideas on what they would like to include in a new community center that also houses a 50+ center for Elkridge.
In addition, Ball will provide a comprehensive update on initiatives and progress on all Elkridge projects at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department located at 5700 Rowanberry Drive in Elkridge.
