ELLICOTT CITY, MD – In honor of National Veterans and Military Families Month, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced the unveiling of the County’s Office of Veterans and Military Families (OVMF) new “Tribute to County Veterans & Military Members” webpage to honor county hometown heroes.
There is no greater calling than serving your country. Howard County takes that to heart with this new initiative to honor current and former military members who call or did call Howard County home. I encourage everyone to take some time to visit our Veterans Tribute page to learn more about our residents who have served or are serving and share your hero’s story.
Launched by OVMF, with the support of the Howard County Commission for Veterans and Military Families, the Veterans and Military Members Tribute initiative honors county residents who are serving or have served in the U.S. Armed and Uniformed Services since World War I. The website features photos, bios, military histories and personal updates of service members who were from or at one-time lived in Howard County.
This Tribute page is a one more way for us to honor our hometown heroes and augments our separate Fallen Heroes page. We invite the community to help us identify service members, so we can recognize all who are or have served.
Community members interested in recognizing a Howard County service member, past or present, are encouraged to completed the “Tribute to Howard County Veterans and Military Members” submission form. For assistance with completing this form or for questions about the County’s Veterans and Military Members Tribute initiative, please contact OVMF at veterans@howardcountymd.gov.
