Howard County police today arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male from Ellicott City in the killing of a man discovered on Oct. 12 shot to death in a vehicle in Columbia.
The suspect is charged as an adult with first-degree murder and related charges. He was arrested at about 12:45 p.m. at Howard High School, where he is a student, with a loaded gun in his backpack. The suspect was under supervision of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and on an ankle monitor for a previous incident in another jurisdiction. A second suspect remains unidentified and outstanding.
Officers making routine area checks at 2:14 a.m. on Oct. 12 discovered Kendrick McLellan, 26, of Baltimore, deceased with multiple gunshot wounds in a vehicle in the parking lot of an office building in the 8800 block of Centre Park Drive. Through investigation, police determined that the shooting took place around 5 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the same location McLellan was discovered.
