Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is recruiting applicants from Councilmanic District 5 to serve a three-year term on the County’s Police Accountability Board. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 31st.

Howard County’s Department of Public Works will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, November 30th at Lisbon Elementary School to present plans for a bridge replacement project adjacent to 3590 Daisy Road.

Howard County’s Department of Public Works’ Transportation and Special Projects Division will hold a joint virtual public meeting with Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation on Wednesday, November 30th to present plans for the rehabilitation of Brighton Dam Road Bridge No. M-0229 atop Brighton Dam of the Triadelphia Reservoir.

Howard County Government offices, 50+ centers, courts and more will be closed on Thursday, November 24th in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. As there will be no curbside trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on Thanksgiving Day, the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect for the remainder of the week.

The County’s Departments of Public Works and Recreation & Parks will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, November 30th to present plans to replace a severely undermined pedestrian bridge behind 11856 Bright Passage with a new culvert and new pathway over the culvert. 

Agency in compliance with more than 450 standards to maintain accredited status

Howard County construction project to rehabilitate the Pfefferkorn Road bridge in West Friendship, is expected to begin on Monday, December 5th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by Sunday, December 11th.

The Committee will begin meeting in December and will advise the County on the upcoming budget and fiscal model supporting HoCo By Design general plan update.

The Howard County Health Department has awarded five local organizations nearly $50,000 in grants through the Local Health Department (LHD) Tobacco, Diabetes and Chronic Disease Prevention and Management Initiatives Grant, a new joint initiative from the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) to advance health equity by identifying and eliminating tobacco, diabetes and chronic disease related inequities and disparities.

Draft plan was informed by a robust community engagement process generating over 12,000 comments
