Howard County Executive Ball Announces $500,000 in Energy Assistance to Vulnerable Residents
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced $500,000 in CARES Act funding will go to support Howard County residents in need of energy assistance through the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC). The grant funding will assist nearly 1,500 families who have applied to the CAC for electric or oil energy assistance.

Howard County Issues a Heat Alert in Response to High Temperatures
In response to high temperatures forecast by the National Weather Service, Dr. Maura J. Rossman, Howard County Health Officer, has issued a heat alert for Howard County for Friday, June 21 through Sunday, June 23.
Montgomery Road Sidewalk Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to install sidewalk along the south side of Montgomery Road near Steepridge Drive, connecting Steepridge Drive to the Lawyers Hill apartment complex, in Elkridge, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, June 24th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late August.
Howard County Government Closings on July 4th and July 5th for Independence Day
Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observance of the Independence Day holiday. As there will be no Thursday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on the 4th, the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect for the remainder of the week.
Additionally, County Government offices, animal shelter and 50+ centers will also be closed on Friday, July 5th.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced that the County’s Department of Finance has been recognized with the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its “Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.”
